The benefits of plant-based eating

Besides being adequately researched, studied and scientifically proven to prevent (and even reverse) cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and other life threatening diseases, plant-based eating can and will provide rather immediate results in terms of weight loss and management; digestion and assimilation (and excretion); boosts in energy levels; enhanced quality of sleep; alleviation of back pains and body aches; mood swings and anger management; feelings of satiety and satisfaction with eating; peace and clarity of mind; the texture and condition of head hair; and the clearness of skin, to name just a few.

And, if the proven benefits don't convince you to make the switch fully to a plant-based diet and/or lifestyle, you can always start by trying for just a few days to see for yourself just how good you feel (and how truly delicious plant-based recipes taste).  Literally and truthfully.  For some additional motivation, see the three recommended books below that go into further detail about the benefits associated with a plant based lifestyle with regards to your own health as well as the health of our fellow animals and the health of our beloved Mother Earth.

Three plant-based lifestyle books to buy and read (with factual proof and real-life example success stories)

1. The China Study

At the top of the book list is still an all-time personal favorite of mine and few other million people, The China Study.  This book, perhaps one of the first most comprehensive studies to be conducted about human dietary nutrition and health, literally provides startling implications regarding human diet and weight loss as well as other long-term health characteristics.

2. How Not to Die

If the title of this book alone doesn't make the hairs on the back of your neck rise while providing that ecstasy like feeling of goosebumps, then maybe a blurb quoted from the book's description will, "From the physician behind the wildly popular website NutritionFacts.org, How Not to Die reveals the groundbreaking scientific evidence behind the only diet that can prevent and reverse many of the causes of disease-related death.

3. Forks Over Knives

Whenever I recommend books to read regarding plant-based living (and all of the health benefits achieved there from), I usually start with this Forks Over Knives book because it is honestly the fastest and most informative (and easy to) read for those that are not yet familiar with the idea of plant based living.  Plus, this version of Forks Over Knives comes with packed with (delicious) recipes to make it even easier to get started.

Need some more help getting started?

If you feel like you may need some more help and/or convincing with making the (logical) switch to a plant-based lifestyle so that you can begin to live your life to the fullest and as healthy as humanly possible, contact me and we can schedule a best time for you to talk.  Previously coming from the meat-eating lifestyle, I know all about the objections, obstacles and otherwise obstructions that can make the switch harder than it truly needs to be.  Once you do make the switch you will fully feel the benefits both from the inside of your body (in terms of how you feel; your energy levels; your level of focus; your hunger cravings; your back pains; your body aches; your ongoing illnesses; your quality of sleep; your mood swings; et al) and from the outside of your body (in terms of how fit you will become as you naturally lose excess weight; your skin tone and clearness; the skeletal structure of your face and cheeks; the texture and feel of your hair; et al).

Letting food be our medicine and letting medicine be our food

The story of how a Doctor diagnosed with MS chose nutrition and natural, plant-based healing over costly, Western medicine

Code blue: redefining the practice of medicine

What started out late 1995 as an MRI confirming diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) has since blossomed in to an awakening of the powers of plant-based nutrition on health, wellness and healing for Dr. Saray Stancic.  After about eight long years of battling with the suffering and pain accompanied by the burden of taking ineffective pharmaceutical drugs (and likely an unimaginable amount of frustration), Dr. Saray came across an article in a medical journal that shed some light on the possibility of managing MS with diet and/or nutrition.  At first doubtful in this new approach of "treatment" and even discouraged by her neurologist and physician peers, Dr. Saray decided to give this newfound approach a try and has since reaped the benefits of natural healing with whole food, plant-based lifestyle/diet.

Lots of love and appreciation for Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables

Life-Changing Foods: Book Review

Featuring another life-changing book for you to add to your reading list, Life-Changing Foods: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables, written by the New York Time's bestseller author Anthony William of Medical Medium.  This self-health book is chock-full of highly informative (and especially insightful) material about a handful of healing fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices that a majority of us have readily available at our local neighborhood grocery stores and farmer's markets. I am completely in love with the knowledge that is relayed in Life-Changing Foods, reconfirming my belief in the true healing powers of our food as our natural medicine.

Since when did cheating ever become OK?

Since when did cheating ever become OK?

Calling the cheat day for what it is, an utter disgrace to (and dismembering from) our very own selves

That's what she said

The idea for this article stemmed from a conversation I had while providing some natural weight loss consulting when the young lady who I was helping said to me that she "only cheated on the weekends."  Sure, we've all heard (and likely used) a somewhat similar phrase ourselves before but, when she told me that, my mind immediately drew attention to the exact words and I replied asking her, "so, to clarify, you only dishonor your self and fill your body with garbage two days each week?"  We both remained silent for a moment and I waited for her reply before speaking again.  After the words settled in with her accompanying thoughts, she mumbled something back along the lines of, "Wowww, I never thought of it like that."

How's your chewing when you're eating?

How's your chewing when you're eating?

Being mindful about your chewing to improve digestion (while promoting weight loss)

A topic covered by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in his book, How To Eat, chewing mindfully is a necessary aspect of eating for both proper digestion and nutrition (and assimilation) purposes.  With our allegedly fast paced lifestyle, some of us may have grown accustomed to disregard our chewing while we eat but this is truly no task that we want to skip out on.  When we chew our foods more fully, we promote for better digestion while we obtain those meant-to-be merry feelings of satisfaction from our meals and encourage natural weight loss from our bodies.  If we don’t chew right (and, in turn, digest our foods) we are left with masses of UNDIGESTED food particles that are dispersed throughout our bodies, making us feel and look bloated and/or pudgy.

A glimpse of healthy eating (and living) with, The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse: An All-Natural, At-Home Flush to Purify and Rejuvenate Your Body

Liver & Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse

One of the first self-health books that I read, The Liver and Gallbladder Miracle Cleanse was an easy to follow, eye-opening book that drove me to dig deeper and learn more about natural, self-health lifestyle practices (and even Ayurveda, too).  I still continue to recommend this book to my loved ones, always telling them that even if they don't want to try and do the cleanse, they should still consider reading it for the plethora of knowledge and/or insights that this book provides. The author of the book, Andreas Moritz, has since passed on from this this life but he continues to be well known and revered as a self health maven that inspired (and still inspires) change in many lives of those who have the chance to learn from him.  If you're looking for something new to read about natural health and healthy eating, this book is a wonderful choice for you to pick up and learn from.

Never a dull meal (with a diet that you can learn to love)

Never a dull meal (with a diet that you can learn to love)

A weight loss diet you never thought possible, until you try it

When you know what foods to eat that will help you to naturally lose weight while still appeasing to your taste buds, dieting becomes secondhand, like a way of life and/or lifestyle for you. If you find yourself trying to lose weight, jumping from one (fad) diet to the next without ever enjoying any of the foods that the diet prescribes much less seeing any real results from the diet, there's no need to lose faith or give up because you can and will lose weight once you learn what is good for YOU to eat (both in terms of being tasty for you as well as effective for helping you to lose weight).
