Enhancing the flavor and nutritional value of kale by massaging it in water for a few minutes before eating it
Kale, a healing cruciferous vegetable
One of the almighty, cancer-killing (and thyroid-healing) cruciferous vegetables belonging to the Cruciferae family, kale is a popular compliment to many healthy recipes and accompanying meals. Along with all of the other crucifers in the list of cruciferous vegetables, kale is a potent source of a number of powerful vitamins like vitamin A, B, C, E, and K. Also known to be rich in the mineral, sulfur, all of the cruciferous vegetables like kale help to promote healthy lungs by stimulating lung tissue growth and regeneration as well as the recovery and restoration of lung scar tissue. You can read Medical Medium's "Life-Changing Foods" for more scientific information about the nutritional makeup and healing powers of kale and its cruciferous vegetable companions.
Bring out the very best in your kale
Taking a few moments to properly massage and prepare kale before eating (or even cooking) will help to naturally bring out the rich, sweet and savory flavors; improve its texture and digestibility; and, perhaps most importantly, enhance its nutrient rich healing benefits. It only takes just a few moments to do and you can literally see and feel the change in your kale as you massage it.
How to properly massage kale
step-by-step instructions:
- Wash the kale with clean water (and clean hands) and then remove the kale from the stem by either pulling it or slicing it or both.
- Next, break and/or cut the kale into individual pieces, about 2-3 inches by 2-3 inches in size for each piece of kale.
- Place the kale pieces into a bowl with a little bit of clean water on top and use both hands to rub and massage the kale for about 2-3 minutes. You will literally notice as the kale shrinks in size and becomes a darker (green) in color and, you can test to see that you have adequately massaged the kale by tasting a piece or two → if the kale tastes bitter, massage some more; if the kale tastes sweet, massage complete.
*For a little more LOVE, you can try rubbing some lemon or lime juice into the kale. This will help to speed up the process while also adding some additional flavor (as well as healing benefits) for your enjoyment
Adding kale to your diet to help you lose weight
As noted above, kale serves as a wonderful (and yummy) compliment to many recipes, helping to naturally add some extra texture, flavor and nutritional benefits to just about any particular meal on any natural weight loss diet plan. Using some all natural, weight management friendly fruits like apples, bananas, cherries, cranberries and even pears, you can throw in some massaged kale, toss it all around with your other ingredient(s) and fully enjoy the sweet taste (and healing powers) while you shed excess weight and trim your waist line. And, don't be shy to have you some kale with your complex carbohydrates, either. Taste and see, how good kale can be.
